Travis Bickle is an
ex-Marine and Vietnam War expert alive in New York City. As he undergoes from
insomnia, he use his time functioning as a taxi driver at night, watching porn
movies at seedy cinemas during the day, or thinking about how the world, New
York in fussy, has got worse into a cesspool. For him, the one brilliant mark
in New York humankind is Betsy, an employee on the presidential nomination
campaign of Senator Charles Palantine. He becomes passionate with her. After a confrontation
with her, he thinks he has to do whatever he needs to build the world an improved
place in his assessment.
